Marjorie Grace Sage

Marjorie Grace Taylor Sage entered into eternal rest Thursday, April 6, 2017. Marjorie was born in Tyler, Texas on November 3, 1924, one of four children to James Arnold Taylor and Lillie DeShazo Taylor. She grew up in Tyler in a close-knit family farming community and was known in school for her sunny personality and was given the name of “Miss Sunshine” by her classmates. She had a quick wit and a fun personality. After graduating High School, she worked a short time for Bell Telephone Company in Tyler as a switchboard operator. She had fond memories of growing up in Tyler. As a young lady, she recalled the dances and group socials centered at Camp Fannin, an Army infantry training center of World War II near Tyler. On January 8, 1946, she married Charles Raymond Sage in Canton, Texas.

She was a loving and devoted wife of 38 years and a sweet, wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a friend to many. She enjoyed bowling on team leagues for several years. She was employed and retired from the Pasadena Independent School District in 1986.

A keen intuition, compassion, patience and above all, loyalty to family were some of her truest virtues. Her smile and kindhearted ways will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by children, Joe Sage, Teresa Sage Damian, and James Sage and wife, Kelly, grandchildren JoBeth Dyer and Sage Damian and great grandchildren Brenna and Kirra Dyer and nieces and nephews in Tyler and Houston.

A private family graveside service will be held at Midway Memorial Cemetery Sunday, April 9, 2017.
