Obituary of Chester Lee Strunk

Chester “Chet” Lee Strunk, 92, passed into his eternal destiny September 24, 2015. He was born on December 11, 1922 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to the late Virgil D. and Mary E. Strunk. He is also preceded in death by his three brothers, two sisters, and grandson, Benjamin Runyan. Chet is survived by loving wife of 69 years, Pauline Strunk; son, Chester Strunk Jr and wife, Lauree; daughter, Paula Bengel; grandchildren, William McCullough and wife, Marianne, Leah Runyan, Darren Strunk, Philip Strunk and wife, Jennifer, Laura Strunk and husband, Bradley Swail, Kari Strunk, Reese Strunk; great grandchildren, Timothy Taranto, Davis and Hudson Strunk and Leif Swail; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. Chet proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and the Korean War. He was an excellent provider for his family and spent over 40 years in the oil and gas industry. Chet was a gentle man, exceedingly intelligent, and loving and gracious to all he encountered. He and Pauline loved playing golf with their friends and family at Golfcrest Country Club. Chet will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chet’s honor to Sagemont Church. A Memorial Service for Chet will be held Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the chapel at Sagemont Church, 11300 S. Sam Houston Pkwy E., Houston, TX 77089.
