Obituary of Ben Alex Brashier

Please share a memory of Ben to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ben Alex Brashier Jr., went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 30, 2016. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David, and many other family members. He was born October 14, 1920 to Ben, Sr. and Ava Brashier in Puchuta, Mississippi. He later, along with his six brothers and two sisters, moved to Santa Rosa, Texas. Upon hearing news of the bombing of Pearl Harbor he joined the U.S. Navy Seebees, (Construction Battalion), serving gallantly in the South Pacific in the Solomon and Marshall Islands. Returning home from the War, he met and married his loving wife, Marge Killion, with whom he just celebrated 70 years of marriage together. Marge was at his side, along with his granddaughter Christy, as they serenaded him with hymns as he slipped away to Heaven. Ben came to know the Lord in 1945 while he was in the Navy. Baptized in the Pacific Ocean, the decision to trust Christ changed his life from there on out and the desire to share Him with others became a passion that marked his life until the day he stepped into glory. Ben is survived by his children, Leon and wife Rosalind, Kathy and husband Harold Hardin, and David’s wife, Susan. He has six grandchildren, Julie Hardin Pierce and husband Brian, Christina Wilbanks Henderson and husband Joel, Amanda Brashier Baker and husband James, Rebeca Hardin Armstrong and husband Keith, Christy Brashier Gandy and husband Justin, and Austin Brashier and wife Misty. Ben was also blessed with nine great grandchildren, Layla Taffarroji, Hudson Pierce, Alana Baker, Maggie Brashier, Ethan Pierce, Zachary Gandy, Isaac Gandy, and Eberley Brashier. The grandchildren and great grandchildren were a blessing from God, cherished and loved, spending many joyful hours together. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, serving in many capacities at his church, but most of all loved being a witness to the good news of a risen Savior. His passion was sharing the plan of salvation with others so they to could know Jesus. He was truly a spiritual leader to all of his family and every person he contacted.
