Cecil Everett Brazil, 93, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Brazil; brother, Homer Brazil and his wife, Margie; sisters, Cora Smith and her husband, Buster , Lola Brazil, Elva Freeman, and Veneta Granger and her husband Dub. Cecil is survived by his younger sister, Ruth Lowe of Pearland; nieces and nephews; Darrell Granger and wife, Edna, of Panama City, FL, Kenneth Granger and wife, Natalie, of Canyon Lake, TX, JoAnn Scitern and husband, Larry, of Alpena, AR, Gerald Granger and wife, Betty, of Pahoa, HI, Steve Granger of Lubbock, TX, Mark Freeman and wife, Celeste, of Aztec, NM, John Lowe Jr. and wife, Ann, of Sugar Land, TX, Martha Starkey and husband, Jerry, of Houston TX, Betsy Lowe of Pearland, TX, and Sherry Fisher and husband, Robert, of Pearland, TX; step nephews, Bob Chaney and wife, Cyndie, of Giddings, TX, Nathan Bales and wife, Carol, of Wilmington, NC and Lanny Bales and wife, Debbie, of Powell Butte, OR; and a host of family and friends. Cecil, along with his Papa, his older sister, Lola, and his younger sister, Ruth, moved to Corpus Christi in 1933. He lived there the majority of his life until December 2015 when he relocated to Pearland. He was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the 1913th Engineer (Avn) Battalion. Upon returning from the war, Cecil attended the University of Texas at Austin where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering in May 1950. Cecil maintained his licensed professional engineer status in the discipline of structural engineering for nearly 58 years and was recognized by Gov. Rick Perry for 50+ years of service to the citizens of the Great State of Texas. He was employed by Western Steel Co. in Corpus Christi for 63 ½ years as an Engineer, Lead Engineer, and Vice President of Special Projects. He served as the Lead Engineer for the fabrication and erection of the Tower of Americas in San Antonio, TX for the 1968 HemisFair. Cecil enjoyed fine arts, classical music and theater. He designed and constructed his own Hill Country retreat in Kerrville and loved traveling domestically and abroad. Cecil will forever be remembered for his caring and generous nature, his sense of humor, amazing abilities, and for inspiring and mentoring co-workers and his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. A visitation and service for Cecil will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the funeral service with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will take place Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 3:00 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Corpus Christi, TX.
