Obituary of Kathleen West

Kathleen Mary West, 82, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2016. She is preceded in death by parents, Harry and Eleanore Throckmorton; husband, Lenard R. West; brothers, Harry, Sonny and Wilbert Throckmorton; and sisters, Gail Roddy, Beulah Bowsman. Kathleen is survived by son, Larry West and wife, Annette; daughter, Kathleen “Doll” Ellis and husband, Rick; grandchildren, Christine D. West Lee, Larry D West, Jr., Michael R. West, Lenard R. West II, Andrew C. Ellis, and Erin L. Ellis; step grandchildren, James D. Mathis III, Amanda L. Ellis Yellott, and Erick P. Ellis; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. Kathleen was a dedicated worker her entire life. She worked for several years as a substitute teacher before leaving the profession for motherhood after getting pregnant with Doll. Kathleen had a strong business mind and she and Lenard started L.R. West Manufacturing in 1964, building it into the successful business it is today. She was very strong willed and ran a tight ship but all of her employees were like family to her. She truly lived for her family and her business. Kathleen was a charter member of the Pearland EMS. She was raised in the Catholic church and was strong in her faith. Kathleen was affectionately known as “Grandma” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and either “Mom” or Mrs. West to all of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A Visitation for Kathleen will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at SouthPark Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
