Obituary of William George Boyer

William George Boyer, 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Augusta Boyer, his daughter, Colleen Wood, his two brothers Raymond Boyer, Sylvester “Red’ Boyer. William is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Boyer; his daughters, Leslie Fluke and husband Steve, Melissa Thamann; his sister, Lucille Runge and husband Bernard; His grandchildren, Shannon Farrimond and husband Brad, Brian Wood and wife Salley, Allyson White and husband Daryl, Sean Wood and wife, Beth, Stefaine Fluke, Elizabeth Polak and husband Brian, Jessica Thamann; and 10 great grandchildren. William proudly served his country in World War II in the United States Army. He was awarded the Purple Heart while serving in Germany. After the war he used his G.I Bill and obtained his business degree from Duquesne University . William was very precise and good with numbers which he applied to his early career becoming a bank examiner and later in life a bank executive. William remained very athletic for most of his life. One of his favorite things was snow skiing and he shared that love with his family. William was a quiet but very proud veteran. For their 50th wedding anniversary he took his entire family to Hawaii, there they took the time to visit Pearl Harbor which was very special to the whole family. He served his church St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church as part of the usher committee and always remained very strong in his faith throughout his life. William was a wonderful provider for his family and a devoted husband. He was known to be very well organized and timely in everything he did. He was affectionately known to the grand kids as “Pap” and to the great grandchildren as “Pap Pap”. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. 6414 Montour Street, South Park, Pennsylvania 15129, in honor of William George Boyer. A memorial service for William will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Helens Catholic Church at 2209 Old Alvin Rd, Pearland, TX 77581 with Father James Courville officiating.
