Lindell Cope Burgess, 90 passed away Friday, May 12, 2017.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Andy Cope and Mary Lee Seale; brothers, Ricky Cope, Harland Cope, and Winston Cope; sisters, Jo-Nell Bankston, Dolores Wiltshire and Charlene Dean.  Lindell is survived by her sons, Robert Flores and wife, Deonna, David Flores and wife, Debbie, James Flores and wife, Cathy; daughter Linda Suzanne Flores Lee; brothers James Thomas Cope and Roger Cope; grandchildren, Kelly Lindell, Carrie, Christopher, Jared, David, Peggy, Alex, and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Avery, Katy, Hope, Jay, Preston, Marco, Alina, Abigail, Isabelle, Alexis, Keaton, Jase, and Evie; great-great grandchildren, Skylar and Aira; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Lindell was born on April 7th, 1927 in Pennington, Texas and was the first of 9 children.  She grew up in East Texas and graduated from Lytton Springs school.  She had a successful career with Southwestern Bell and retired after 25 years.  Lindell was faithful in attending church and in later years, watching it on TV.  She took interest in keeping up with current events and Houston sports through TV and reading the Chronicle every day.   She eventually found a way to combine two of her biggest passions, reading and children.  She volunteered often to go to schools and read to children.  Lindell found pleasure in daily phone calls to friends or family and was a great example of one who could live, love and laugh.  She enjoyed a good joke and would laugh her big laugh.  In recent years, Lindell found great pleasure in going to the Knapp Activity Center, with her friend and caregiver, Cynthia Small.  There she would play bingo, listen to speakers, and have lunch.  But most of all she enjoyed her friends and neighbors there.  Lindell was extremely proud of all her children and grandchildren.  She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Mimi”, and the saying “Go ask Mimi” was used every time we couldn’t find the answer ourselves.  She found great pleasure in going to the kids’ and grandchildren’s activities and events.  Lindell especially loved watching birds, squirrels and other wildlife, and found pleasure in traveling on annual trips to see the Texas bluebonnets and wildflowers.  Lindell will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
