Obituary of Deborah Jean Knight

Deborah Jean Morris Knight or “DJ”, 50, of Pearland, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 after a long and arduous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 26, 1966 in Jackson, Mississippi to Emma Earline Morris and James Harold Morris. She is survived by her son, Cullen Knight, daughter, Erin Melody Knight, and mother, Emma Earline Spell.

Deborah was a vibrant, friendly, inspirational person. She brought joy and peace to all who befriended her. She accomplished many things throughout her short life. She graduated from Wingfield High School in Jackson, Mississippi in 1984, then moved to Houston in 1985. She held various positions on the board of the Pearland Cycling Club for more than 10 years. She got her accounting degrees from Southwestern Accounting Institute and Houston Community College. She continued her education and became an enrolled agent with the IRS, but her greatest achievement was being a loving, inspiring, and nurturing mother, daughter, mentor, and friend. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and contagious laugh.

There will be a memorial service on July 8th, 2017 at 11am at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 5515 West Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77581. In lieu of flowers, Deborah has asked for donations to be made to Epiphany Lutheran Church or MD Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Kopetz GI Cancer Research, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or www.mdanderson.org/gifts.
