Obituary of Mavis Lena Ross

Please share a memory of Mavis to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mavis Lena Ross, 69, of Pearland, Texas passed away on October 26, 2017. She is preceded in death by her husband Steven Wayne Ross, father and mother Marion and Fannie Heath. Left to cherish her memory are her brothers; Donald Heath, Daniel Marshall, Monroe Heath, Cleo Heath, Mack McCormick, Bill McCormick and her only sister Jan Seber and husband Ronald, brother in law Harold Ross and wife Brenda, sister in law Stephanie Nichols and husband Curt, sister in law Susan Varner and husband Sam and countless nieces, nephews, even grand nieces and nephews that she greatly adored. The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their care of Mavis as well as Pastor Jerry Stark. Her angels here on earth that looked after her and attended to her many needs and were her constant companions; Linda Durvis, Rosie Cage, Keona Bolton, and Katrina Bolton of Linda's Caregiver's. The family extends to you their gratitude.

She met Steve and moved to Bellaire, TX where she took some night school classes while her and Steve were dating. She was very talented with her crochet work. She made doilies, baby blankets, hats, and mittens just to name a few. Many family members received personal gifts from her. She absolutely adored her soul mate Steve. Every day he left for work she would get up and leave him a note in his lunch letting her "Honey Bunny" know that she loved him and to be safe on his way to work. Steve and Mavis were married in July of 1984 in Goldthwaite, TX. They briefly lived in Bellaire before settling in to their forever home in Pearland. Mavis volunteered at the school there helping the children & staff. She was very close to her sister Jan and talked to her daily. Her and Steve never had any children of their own, just their dog Babygirl. Every holiday you could find her chatting away with her family who lovingly referred to her as "The Whisperer". She was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2007 and was transitioned to hospice in early 2017. After 8 months and the passing of her husband Steve, her brother in law promised to get her home which he fulfilled.
