Obituary of Ruth Appel Roos

Ruth Appel Roos, 84, of Pearland, Texas passed away on February 8, 2018.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna Marten and Rev. Carl J. Appel; husband, Wallace “Wally” Roos; and brothers, Carl Appel and Rev. Vernon Appel.  Left to cherish Ruth’s memories is her son Robert Roos; daughter Deborah Volkers and son-in-law Steven Volkers; grandson Ryan Volkers and fiancée Christina Zube; granddaughter Rebecca Volkers; sister, Dorothy Ann Appel; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Ruth had a servant’s heart and was involved in many activities at Epiphany Lutheran Church.  Being extremely active in her church activities brought great joy to Ruth’s life.  She played in the Bell Choir known as “A Joyful Noise”.  Ruth, also served as a greeter and enjoyed being part of the Bible Marking Ministry, but her greatest joy was serving with the Epiphany Funeral Ministry.  Ruth loved helping families through this difficult time in their lives and was always there to assist the funeral homes with setting up and making sure everything was perfect.  Her kind and smiling face was always welcomed by everyone that came to services at the church.  Ruth loved spending time with her family and grandchildren who affectionately called her “MomMaw”.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Epiphany Lutheran Church, Pearland.

A visitation and service for Ruth will be held Epiphany Lutheran Church, 5515 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018.  The visitation will start at 10:00 a.m. with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jon Salminen officiating.  A private interment at South Park Cemetery will take place immediately following the service.
