Marcus Gonzales passed away Monday, September 12, 2005 at the age of 72 years. Born June 5, 1933 in Rosenberg, Texas to the late Marcos and Adela Pena Gonzales, Marcus was a resident of Pearland for many years. He proudly served his country as Corpsman in the U.S. Army and retired from Continental Airlines as an Aviation Mechanic after 40 years of service. Marcus is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Villanueva, and is survived by a loving family; his beloved wife of 47 years, Bertha C. Gonzales; his children, Debra Ann Long and her husband, L. Brooks, Gilbert Gonzales and his wife, Beatriz, Lisa Marie Heim and her husband, Michael F., Marcus Gonzales, Jr. and his wife, Debra J. and Janet Banfield and her husband, Gregory S.; his brother, Joe Gonzales and his wife, Sharon; five sisters, Margaret Coffey, Clara Sutton and her husband, Woody, Alice Sandlin and her husband, Jim, Patsy Maginel and her husband, Col. Robert and Beatrice McClung and her husband, Ronald; fourteen grandchildren, numerous other relatives, a host of friends and his beloved pet, “Wookie.” The family received friends from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. A Celebration of Marcus’ Life was held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 15, 2005, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland, with Rev. Buddy Griffin officiating. Committal services and Interment followed at SouthPark Cemetery, in Pearland. Those serving as pallbearers were: Marcus Gonzales, Jr., Gilbert Gonzales, Joshua B. Long, Jordan C. Long, Brett M. Heim, Al Cain and “Bud” Brown. A reception was held at the home of Greg and Janet Banfield following the committal service.
