Neal Anthony Seymour died on December 14, 2006. He is predeceased by his parents Elizabeth and James Seymour, his brother Edward Lilly and his sister Priscilla Seymour. He is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Marion Scott Seymour; son Scott Seymour and wife Connie, son Gawain Seymour and wife Nicole, daughter Amy Golter and husband Darryl; grandchildren Dustin Seymour and wife Kaydee, Taylor Seymour, Devan Hollaway, Sarah Seymour, Hailey Seymour, Christian Seymour, Nicholas Seymour, Kari-Tate Golter, Graysen Golter, Micah Boynton, and Shay Boynton; sisters Brycie Batista, Frances Jones, Maris Penney, and Kay Muniza; brothers Fred Seymour, Michael Seymour, and Stanley Seymour. Neal was born in Mahan, West Virginia on March 28, 1940. His family moved to Houston in 1950. He graduated from Milby High School in 1958 and continued his education at the University of Houston, Houston School of Theology, and with Chaplaincy Pastoral Care at M. D. Anderson Hospital. During the fifties and sixties he served in both the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve and was called on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. A long time resident of Pasadena,Neal worked as a State Farm insurance agent from January 1967, until retirement in March of 1999. He served M. D. Anderson as an Affiliate Chaplain and Sunset United Methodist Church as Director of Pastoral Concerns from 1988 until 1994. He eagerly volunteered and supported Casa Juan Diego immigrant ministry, and the Magnificat Houses of Houston. An avid marathon runner, Neal completed numerous marathons in Houston, Washington, D. C., New York City, and Boston, Massachusetts. The family wishes to extend grateful appreciation to the Alzheimer Association of Houston, Baylor Neurology, and Shiva Satish, M. D. for support during Neal’s illness. They would especially like to thank Barton House of Sugar Land, administrator Jane Relton and the entire staff for years of loving, faithful service to Neal and those who loved him. For Neal’s devoted exercise buddy, Henry Reed, the family feels sincere gratitude for the many hours of loving patience and ingenious strategies that kept Neal in good physical health and better spirits for much longer than would otherwise have been possible. Special appreciation also goes to Compassionate Care Hospice. His life will be celebrated on Monday, December 18, 2006, 11:00AM at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 16335 El Camino Real, Houston, Texas 77062, the Rev. Tony Vinson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests those wishing to remember Neal do so with a donation to this church or the Alzheimer’s Association, Houston & Southeast Texas Chapter, 2242 W.
