On Friday, October 9, 2020, Vincent Rodriguez, loving husband, dad of five and grandpa to many lost his battle with cancer at 75. Vincent was born on February 8, 1945 in the small town of Palacios, Texas to Bernardo and Savina Rodriguez. On January 14, 1962, he married Dolores Garza. Over the course of their marriage, Vincent and Dolores raised five children, Christine, Lisa, Phillip, Amanda, and Alicia. In the summer of 1962, he joined the Navy and served his time in the Vietnam War. Upon his return to the states, he worked for NASA while studying for his law degree. He graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University. Vincent practiced family and civil law in Houston for over thirty years until his diagnosis late this year. If you ever met Vincent, you would know he never liked for anyone to make a fuss over him. He truly was a selfless person and put others before himself in all aspects of home and work life. He was a husband, dad, popo and great- grandpa before anything else. His love for Elvis, Star Wars, Westerns, and food is something we will remember. He had a laugh that made his whole body shake and made you smile, too. From the train whistling noise he made with his hands to the gentle advice given, he always made us feel happy and cared for. He was deeply religious and loved going to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in La Porte every Sunday until he no longer could. His love of God brings us comfort in his passing. He truly never met a stranger and was friendly to all... to know him was to love him. Vincent is preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Savina, and brother, Frank Rodriguez. His memory will forever be remembered and cherished by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Christine; daughter, Lisa and spouse Joe; son, Phillip and spouse Yolanda; daughters, Amanda and Alicia; grandchildren, Jamie, Jessica, Michael II, Thomas, Phillip Jr., Layla, Sean, Kalina, Dalia, Austin and Keridan; great- grandchildren, Dante, Nathaniel and Gabriel; siblings, Bernardo Jr., Lupe, Trinidad, Maragarito, Adam, Simon, Manuela, Tomas, Gabriel, and Anthony; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
