Thakoor Jagdeo Chatarpal

It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Jagdeo Chatarpal, who passed away on March 11, 2023. He is survived by his wife, Lilly; son, Govin; daughter and her spouse, Neley and Maurice Edmond III; grandson, Christian; many cousins, nieces, nephews, numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, family, and friends.

‘All people die, but not all people live.’ Jagdeo lived!

Born in Albion, East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana on March 13, 1949, he immigrated to Toronto, Canada and later made his home in Pasadena, TX. He relished in the rich culture of his Indian and Indo Carribean heritage. He was a Hindu spiritualist throughout his life as demonstrated by his commitment and generosity to the Bharat Sevashram Sangha Canada as well as ashrams and mandirs from New York, Houston, and Guyana. With a big and compassionate heart, he was endeared by all; not one would want for comfort as he willingly gave what he had.

Industrious by nature, he was an entrepreneur and an explorer who saw challenges as opportunities and had an undeniable zest for life. He thoroughly enjoyed many pleasures: good food, good drink, immense appreciation for music, singing, dancing, boating, traveling the open road, playing cricket, visiting with family and friends, always equipped with a joke and ready to engage in conversation with anyone. Never a dull moment in his presence.

Please join us in remembering Jagdeo and celebrating the life he lived. Viewing is scheduled for Monday, March 20, 2023, the funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Clayton Funeral Home located at 5530 Broadway Street in Pearland, TX 77581.
