Audra Lynn Page was born in Houston, Texas, on September 17, 1968. God sent Robert Coleman and Thelma
Demerson a beautiful little angel. Little did we know that she would make such a significant impact on all of us.
Audra didn’t cry when she was born, and the nurses had difficulty getting her to cry. Finally, after they thumped
her under her feet, she sounded off, letting the world know that a bright light had been born to make a
difference in this world.
She married Andre Williams, and a beautiful daughter, Aundréa Lewis, was born from that union. She was the
mother of many, acquired other children, and cared for them as if they were her own.
Audra received her early religious education from Boynton United Methodist Church and was later confirmed
at St. James Episcopal Church. She later joined Windsor Village Church Family, where she served on the
Greeter’s ministry and remained a faithful member.
She was the product of the Houston Independent School District, where she attended Garden Villas Elementary
and Lanier Middle School. She graduated from Lamar High School, where she participated in the band and was
Drum Majorette! Audra received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas Southern University and a
Master’s Degree from Nova University. Audra was a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
Because of Audra’s experiences in different fields of employment, such as Herman Hospital and working as a
pharmacist technician at the Thomas Street Clinic and Walmart Pharmacy, allowed her to bring many outside
experiences to the educational field.
A 22-year Houston Independent School District veteran, Audra began her career as a teacher’s aide at
Thompson Elementary and later 1st-grade teacher at Alcott, Montgomery, and she was employed at Almeda
Elementary as a Kindergarten teacher during her final year in the profession. She was an exceptional teacher and
highly dedicated to her craft. She served on many committees and was chosen as Teacher of the Year and
nominated for Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators.
Audra had an infectious spirit and personality that affected everyone she met. She was family oriented and just a
giving person. Her hobbies and interests included reading, fishing, writing, exercising, shopping on the Internet,
and listening to old-school hip hop.
Audra was a writer and author of a children’s book titled: “Colors I Like” and was working on another book, but
she could not complete it because of her illness. She was also an entrepreneur with her “But God” and “God Got
U” tee shirt designs.
Audra was also an animal lover and had several animals as pets throughout the years. Her latest pet was a cat
named Loki. Many who knew her well would sum up and characterize her life in words such as: loving, giving,
self-sacrificing, dedicated, and a beautiful human being.
Audra was preceded in death by her dad, Robert Coleman. She is survived by her devoted mom, Thelma
Demerson, and a loving bonus dad, Larry Demerson; Her daughter: Aundréa Lewis (Michael); two brothers:
Robert James Coleman (Audra’s “Big, little brother”), who was her protector and ultimate caregiver (I don’t
know what I would have done without his support) and Christopher Demerson; two sisters: Terri Guidry
(Gerald), and TaShara LaFleur; Audra’s cat Loki and a host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and
