Kathy was the youngest girl of nine children. She was raised by godly parents who taught her to love God and service from an early age, which she carried with her throughout her life. She met and married the first love of her life, David Wooten, in 1983, and together they raised her daughter. They started Southwest Sportnet in 1988 and grew the company to be one of the largest commercial playground companies in the nation. Kathy lost David in 1999, but continued to run the company by herself for another two years until she retired in 2001. Kathy found the second love of her life, Charles Jones, in 2003 and married in 2011. They were able to enjoy many trips to Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona, Georgia, Dominican Republic and Alaska, as well as enjoying time together at home before she was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Kathy lived her life at the service of others. Whether it was a complete stranger in a local store or a beloved family member, if she felt they needed her help, she was there to help them. She loved her husband, daughter, and grandkids greatly. God, her family and friends were the most important things in her life. Kathy was a perfect example of how to face life and all it’s trials with strength, grace, and compassion. The world lost one of its brightest lights the day she passed, but Heaven brought home one of its angels. She will be greatly missed!
