Gloria Krohn Wiesenborn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday November 17, 2014. She was born in St Louis, MO on March 22, 1932, the daughter of Florence Meier and Albert Krohn. Gloria grew up in St. Louis, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Institute for the Deaf. She later got her Master’s Degree from University of Houston. Gloria married her college sweetheart Bob Wiesenborn in 1953 and later moved their family to Alvin, Texas in 1962. They lived in Alvin many years, with a brief stay in Melbourne, Australia because of Bob’s job. Gloria and Bob moved to Friendswood, Texas in 1995. Gloria taught at LaMarque ISD for 17 years, retiring from there to explore her many creative interests. She and Bob traveled the world, from Australia, across Asia and Europe, and more recently Costa Rica, Panama, and the California Wine Country. Her zest for life centered around her family and friends. She dearly loved to paint and had just started a new canvas. Gloria also loved playing the piano and enjoyed playing for the Sunday morning worship service at Park Manor Nursing Home in South Houston. She also enjoyed Retail Therapy – shopping was both recreational and social. She was Christmas shopping on the day of her death. A member of Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland, Gloria was also an active member of the Esther Circle at Alvin Lutheran Church and the Alvin Senior Center. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Florence Krohn; and her sisters, Esther Tufts and Margaret Patschke. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Wiesenborn; her daughter Robin Pike and husband James; sons, Mark Wiesenborn and his wife Kristen, and Dennis Wiesenborn and his wife Diane. Also grandchildren Scott and Amanda Wiesenborn, Kyle and Lindsey Wiesenborn, Jason and Cinny Pike, Paul Wiesenborn, Jared Pike, and Jesse Wiesenborn; and great grandchildren Dustyn Pike, Caleb Pike, Carson Wiesenborn, Zoey Wiesenborn, Ella Wiesenborn, and Katelyn Wiesenborn. Also her sister, Ruth Meyer and husband John, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Gloria loved Jesus, her family, and her friends. We will all miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 5515 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. Memorials may be given to Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pearland or Alvin Lutheran Church.
