I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:1-2 Wilton Joseph (Shine) departed his life on this earth, Thursday, January 15, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; Frank and Richard; and one sister-in-law, Regina Preyan Johnson. He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his wife, Betty; his children, Arleda (Melvin) Wright, Brian (Linda) Joseph and Latequa Joseph; grandchildren Briana, Leslie, Tayler, and Reagan Wright, Kaitlin Andell, Anthony Moore and Sakeia Thomas; sisters Bertha (Rev. Simon) Cage, of Missouri City, TX and Gail (James) Noel, of Vacherie, LA; brothers Cornelius (Louise), Chester (Judy), Hubert (Betty), Thomas (Lorenza), Jolies and Marcel Joseph all of Vacherie, LA; mother-in-law Lillian Preyan of Vacherie, LA; sisters-in-law Brenda (Leo) Wilson of Gonzales, LA, Marva Dumas, Carliss (Dennis) Keller of Vacherie, LA, ; brothers-in-law Anthony (Louise) Preyan of Vacherie, LA. and Robert Johnson of Kenner, LA; one aunt, Emily Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends. On December 20, 1944, Wilton Joseph (Shine) was born in Vacherie, LA to the late Elmer and Thomas Joseph, Sr. He was the 4th born of ten children. In 1965, Wilton took Betty Preyan as his wife. They were blessed with 43 memorable years of marriage. The couple had three children together; Arleda Wright, Brian and Latequa Joseph. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Wilton confessed Christ, accepted Him as his Lord and Savior, was baptized by Rev. Samuel Smith and was accepted as a member of Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church. Wilton was affectionately known as “Shine”. He was a professional truck driver most of his adult life. He enjoyed fishing and football, and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Wilton was very friendly, an excellent story teller, and enjoyed spending time with his family. Visitation for Wilton will be held on Friday, January 23, 2009 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 12:00 noon, at the Rose of Sharon Christian Center, 7607 Drouet Street, Houston, Texas 77061. Pastor Simon Cage of Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church in Houston will be officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland.
