Robert “Bob” Paul Schwartz Sr., age 74, of Pearland, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on September 17, 2009 at his home in Country Place. He is preceded in death by his father, Edward & Alice (Plenzler) Schwartz; and brother, Edward Schwartz Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores; son, Robert Schwartz Jr.; daughter Leanne Renfro & her husband Paul; Brother Jerome Schwartz; and a host of many other family & friends. Bob was born on June 2, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. He resided in Itasca, IL until 1965 when he and his family moved to Naples, Florida until 1981, when he settled in the Houston area. In 1986 they moved to Country Place, where they have made many friends. Bob served in the Military for 2 years stationed in Baltimore, MD. He was assigned to the Nike Guided Missile Unit covering the Washington, D.C. area. During his working career, he was a designer-home builder in Naples and retired in 1997 from the Facilities Department at Rice University in Houston. Bob and Dolores were high school sweethearts who were happily married for 54 years. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, woodworking and loved to party, which he was always the life of. He was a loving husband and a great father and was especially close to his brother, Jerome. Bob and Dolores loved to travel to their RV in Rockport and would spend most of their time in their boat fishing. Before his illness they traveled extensively to visit family and friends. An interment for Bob will take place on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 10:00 AM at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, 2:00-4:00 PM at the Lodge in the Country Place Community on McHard Road near 288. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s honor to the Country Place Foundation, 3119 Flower Field Lane, Pearland, Texas 77584, 713-436-1062.
