Obituary of Martha Ann Ellington

Martha Ann Ellington, 91, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Edna Thornton; her husband, Herbert Sparrow; brothers, H.B. “Skeet” Thornton, Douglas Gene Thornton and an infant brother that passed away at birth; and sister, Mary Catherine Thornton. Martha is survived by her son, Raymond Joseph Ellington; grandchild, Martha Claire De Angelis; cousins, Jimmy Hamm and Joyce Hamm Barnes; and a host of other family and friends. Martha spent her life caring for others. She was loyal to her family and was always available to help those in need. Martha’s love and caring devotion to her family extended to the care for her mother for more than 30 years. She grew up during the depression and learned the value of a dollar. Martha never spent much of anything on herself but instead used it to help others. She was strong in her faith and grew up Southern Baptist and remained steadfast her entire life. Martha maintained good health for most all of her life and prided herself on remaining independent. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. A graveside service for Martha will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady, Texas.
