Vivian Anita Menendez, 71, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marietta Price; and brothers, Daniel and Albert Price. Vivian is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Louis Menendez; son, Sterling Menendez; daughter, Nicole Jordan and husband, Kevin; sister, Karen Price; mother-in-law, Florence Menendez; sister-in-law, Dianne Menendez; aunts, Doris Barnes and Quincy Lee; grandchildren, Hillary, Austin, Sarah, Julian, and Maxwell Menendez, Christopher and Hope Steib; and a host of other family and friends.
Vivian met Louis when they were both 12 years old when her ball rolled right in front of his bicycle. Louis stopped and picked up the ball and gave it back to her. From that point on, Louis looked for every opportunity to go see Vivian. Their love continued on and celebrated 50 years of marriage. The Lord entrusted two beautiful children to their union, Sterling and Nicole
Vivian proved not only to be an excellent mother and homemaker, but a true servant of God. She and her husband served together and dedicated their lives to be of service to the community, the enrichment of youth and the commitment of spreading the good news and being true disciples for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Vivian loved to travel and traveled around the world three times. She enjoyed shopping, dressing up, going to parties and “stepping out”. Vivian was a loving and giving person that would help underprivileged kids and took many children to Disney World. She was strong in her faith and served as a Eucharistic minister at her church in New Orleans and in Texas. Vivian was also known to take communion to the sick and elderly at nursing homes. She was honored by the Archdiocese of New Orleans with the Order of St. Louis IX medallion, the highest award given to members of the diocese. Vivian loved going out to eat and planning events and trips. She and Louis had three time shares and always looked forward to making plans for all her family and friends. Vivian completed her journey successfully on April, 15, 2015, when The Lord said welcome home my good and faithful servant. Job well done. Vivian will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ann M. Zellner and her staff, and Dr. Nadya Hasham-Jiwa for all of the love, care and support to Vivian and the family throughout Vivian’s illness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Vivian’s honor to the Archdiocese of New Orleans Retreat House at 5500 St. Mary Street, Metarie, LA 70006.
