Emma Bailey-Crawford passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Solomon Bailey and Genette Johnson Bailey; husbands, Rev. Charles Busch, Rev. Bervis Ned Sr. and Rev. Caldwell “CC” Crawford. Emma is survived by her daughter, Natalie Poole; sons, Michael Busch and Bervis Ned II; grandchildren, Bervis Ned III, Alexius Rayford-Wade, DeMonyca Bedford and Desiree Ned; great-grandchildren, Devin Bedford, Devonte Rayford, Alannah Wade and Ayden Wade; and a host of other loving family and friends.
Emma was known to all as “Mother Crawford” and she earned that name for her infinite wisdom, patience and for her life-long servant’s heart. She graduated from Booker T. Washington High School here in Houston and went on to Graduate from Texas Southern University. Emma used her degree to become a registered medical technologist and had a successful 30 year career. She was also a gifted musician and loved to sing. Mother Crawford beautiful voice was shared with everyone throughout her life. Emma was involved and helped develop many outreach programs at Nursing Homes, Hospitals, and shut-ins. One of her greatest joys was working and starting the Prison Ministry Program at St. Paul Baptist Church in Portland Oregon with her late husband and soul mate Rev. Caldwell “CC” Crawford. They traveled all over the country together spreading God’s word of salvation to everyone they met. Emma spent her entire life in service to others as an inspirational positive light and example to all that knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held for Mother Crawford on Saturday, May 2, 2015 beginning at 10am at Greater Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church, 9213 Ashville Drive Houston, Texas 77051. The viewing will begin at 10 am and the funeral service will begin promptly at 11am with Rev. Robert B. Jones officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 11 am at Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive Houston, Texas 77038.
