Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Whitten, 76, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Herman Brownlow Cinnamon and Kleber Mae Abbey; and sisters, Bonnie Clark and Katherine Cinnamon. Bobbie is survived by her son, Ronald F. Whitten, Jr. and wife, Sarah; daughters, Donna Kay Ball and husband, Kerry; Joy Lynne Farmer and husband, Kenny; grandchildren, Katie Crockett and husband, Dan, P. J. McRae, Aaron Ball, Rebekah Farmer, Ashley Ball, Autumn Ball, Kevin Ball, Andrew Ball and Anthony Ball; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crockett, Chloe Crockett, Kyle Crockett, Mason McRae, Kathryn McRae, Annabelle McRae and another on the way; niece, Betty Clark; and a host of other family and friends. Bobbie was a woman of strong faith that loved the Lord and her family. She overcame many hardships throughout her life through her faith and determination. Bobbie had to quit school at the age of 14 to help support her mother, but would go on to complete her GED and go to college in her late 30’s. She loved school and instilled the importance of education in her children. Bobbie enjoyed playing bridge, reading and baking for her family. She was especially known for showing up at family gatherings with plenty of desserts. Bobbie’s greatest pride and joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she cherished any opportunity she had to spend time with them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to breast cancer research at www.komen.org or to Shadycrest Baptist Church at www.shadycrest.org. A visitation for Bobbie will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The funeral service will take place Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ryan Jennings officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, Texas.
