Obituary of Charlotte Petinrin
Please share a memory of Charlotte to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlotte Kofoworola Petinrin lived a rich and productive life. She was born on October 30, 1940 in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel O. Johnson (both deceased). They had seven children; Mrs. Labo Oso, Rev E. Olakunle Johnson, Dr Femi Johnson (deceased), Mr. Olusola Johnson(Deceased), Charlotte, Mrs. Bimbo Oyemakinde and Mr. Opeolu Johnson.
Charlotte grew up in the city of Lagos, Nigeria. She went to Reagan Memorial Baptist Secondary School, graduated and went on to nursing school. She attended the School of nursing at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, then went on for further professional training in England and later on America. On March 30th. 1967, Charlotte got married to Amos Akinyemi Petinrin. They are blessed with four children namely: Akinola Tolulope, Tokunbo Olayemi, Omobola Abosede, and Oluwakemi Abiola.
She was blessed to have seen her children get married to their respective spouses namely: Ibitope Petinrin (nee Ibikunle), Olubiyi Abimbola, Peter Oni and Adebola Hamed. Her grandchildren are Oluwaseun Abimbola, Ebunoluwa Oni, Oluwadoyinmola Abimbola, Michelle Petinrin, Oluwamuyiwa Abimbola, Joshua Oni, Ruth Petinrin and Alyson Hamed. She was a wife who fulfilled the sayings of Proverbs chapter 31 and was a fine mother to her children and loving grandma to her grand children. She provided love, support, guidance, comfort, and discipline. She instilled the love for what is true and right in the hearts of her children and all she met. She kept the family moving in the right direction and always sacrificed everything to make sure everyone else was comfortable. She was very hospitable, loved gardening and was very active and full of life. Charlotte had a great way of infecting others with love. Very importantly, Charlotte had put faith in Jehovah; she dedicated her life to him and determined to express her faith by sharing this with others as an unbaptized publisher as she associated with the East Fresno congregation of Jehovah’s witnesses. Her desire was to become a regular pioneer. Shortly after this, she took ill. Her faith was not shaken, instead she upheld the bible principles she learnt.
Charlotte believed in the words of Jesus at John 11:25 “I am the resurrection and the life. He that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life.” She had the confidence that Jehovah would resurrect even at death.
We cannot fully express in words what our mother meant to our family and others. Time brings changes with the years but memory keeps its souvenirs. Though a moment may be gone, the love that made it shine lives on. The light our mother brought to the world is still shining in us (the children and grandchildren) and everyone touched by her love. We will greatly miss her. We look forward to seeing her soon in the New World as the Bible shows at 2 Peter 3:13.
Visitation for Charlotte will be on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Clayton Chapel. The Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm. Interment will immediately follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
