William “Bill” L.H. Morgan Jr., 64, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015. He is preceded in death by his father, William L.H. Morgan, Sr.; and brother, Jay Morgan. Bill is survived by his mother, Mayme Morgan; his loving wife of 23 years, Terrie Morgan; his former wife, Sandra Morgan; son, Will Morgan and wife. Lydia; daughters, Ann Morgan, Ph.D, Tana Nickens and husband, Ben, Tara Harmolin and husband, Jason; sister, Vickie Smith and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Mallory, Mason and McKenna Nickens, Brooklynn Harmolin; and a host of other family and friends. Bill was a lifelong learner who valued education and hard work. He graduated from Milby High School in 1970 before attending the University Of Houston where he earned his Bachelor of Arts, his CPA and JD. His specialty was in estate planning, and tax, will, and business law. Even after graduation, Bill continued to broaden his knowledge by taking and teaching continuing education classes. He was a constant teacher and mentor that loved assisting with career days at the local schools and teaching science experiments to his grandchildren. Bill knew the value of hard work and worked throughout his schooling, paying his way through both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He took great pride in the fact that his father was a small business owner and he himself had owned his own practice for more than thirty years. Bill lived by the philosophy that it was always better to give than receive, both professionally and personally, whether it was to his community, to his family or to his friends. His giving spirit was an inspiration to all he encountered. Bill served on multiple bank boards, including Bayshore Bank and Heritage Bank. He was a founding member of the South East Economic Development Council. He was elected and served on the Clear Brook City Municipal Utilities District Board for 30 years. Bill was a founding member of the Southbelt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce, where he served as treasurer and Chairman. He served as Chairman of the Pearland Neighborhood Center for two years and helped reorganize the center to operate independently. Bill was a founding member of Project Joy and Hope, a charity that works to “enhance the quality of life for families and children who live with life-limiting conditions.” He was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Pasadena Rotary Club for establishing the Pasadena Rotary Foundation. Bill served as treasurer on the Green Tee Homeowner’s Association for 12 years. In addition to his formal dedication to service, he was devoted to helping others and serving his fellow man through many acts of kindness. Bill was a man of strong faith. He and Terrie attended First United Methodist Church of Pearland for 23 years, where he taught Sunday school and served as the Chairman of the Family Ministry Council. He was a man of simple passions that enjoyed great food, leisurely travel, corny jokes and Texas and American history. Bill pursued these interests with an intensity and zealousness that was contagious. He took great joy in trying new restaurants and was an amazing cook that was intent on experimenting with new recipes. Bill was an avid wine lover and he and Terrie frequently would travel to the Napa Valley. He had a joke for every occasion and his family could always count on him to send them his favorite daily comic strip. Bill was a gifted listener, an entertaining storyteller, and accomplished attorney, a dutiful son, a loving father, an attentive grandfather, and supportive and caring husband that will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s honor to Project Joy & Hope at 3219 Burke Rd., Suite B1, Pasadena, Texas 77504 or to First United Methodist Church of Pearland.
