Obituary of Lionel Harris Wheeler

Lionel Harris Wheeler, a resident of Country Place in Pearland and avid golfer, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the age of 90 Years. Lionel was born September 23, 1916 in Courtney, Texas to the late John S. and Jimmie Lee (Harris) Wheeler. Lionel proudly served his country in World War II, having served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He attended Texas A & M University and worked as a Pipeline Engineer. Lionel’s work included the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline.
Lionel is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Robert L. Wheeler, brother, William T. Wheeler and a sister, Jonilee Schwander. He is survived by a loving family; his beloved wife of 67 years, Louise Turner Wheeler; son, Lewis T. (Cecile) Wheeler; sister, Kimmie Adair; two grandchildren, Michael Wheeler and David (Ingrid) Wheeler; five great grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Sarah, Megan and Grant Wheeler; nephew, Bill Schwander; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
A memorial service celebrating Lionel’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 2, 2007, at Peace Presbyterian Church, 1801 Country Place Parkway, in Pearland with Rev. Jim Gill officiating. For those desiring, memorials may be made in Lionel’s honor to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
