Obituary of Joseph George Nochella

Joseph “Joe” George Nochella, age 57 of Pearland, passed away unexpectedly on October 29, 2009. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Carmela (Marinello) Nochella. He is survived by his wife, Catherine Nochella; son, Joseph Nochella & his wife Rose; daughters, Mary Lou Pych & her husband Mike, Carmela Ferreira, and Caresse Chase & her husband Todd; brother, Robert Nochella & his wife Janet; sister, Eileen Kenny & her husband Brian, and Francine Antonaides & her husband John; grandchildren, Chantal, Jonathan, Sydney, Michael, Cole, Ryan, and Reagan; and a host of many other family & friends. Joe was born on February 22, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York. He resided in Florida until 2005 then settled in the Houston area. For many years, Joe successfully owned and operated S.N. Ship Agency and served on the board of the Propeller Club in Broward County Florida. He was an avid reader who enjoyed history as well as a good mystery. Joe was an avid sports fan who followed the Miami Dolphins and was devoted to his beloved New York Giants and the Yankees. He was known to all his grandkids as “Poppy Joe”. Along with Catherine, Joe traveled extensively all over the world throughout their lives together. Visitation for Joe will be on Sunday, November 1, 2009 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the Rosary being recited at 3:00 pm by Deacon Darvin Bordelon. The Funeral Mass is on Monday, November 2, 2009 at 1:00 pm at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland officiated by Rev. Rodolfo L. Cal-Ortiz.
