Obituary of James Louis Weir
Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Louis Weir, born Oct. 4, 1923 in McRae, Arkansas, joined his Lord and Savior on July 15, 2016. He was 92.
Known for his warm humanitarian outlook and a keen sense of humor that touched the lives of many, all were left the better for having known him. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he loved telling jokes and entertaining his grandchildren. Sharp of mind and mechanically inclined, James could always be found tinkering on projects of all kinds. The Open Door Sunday School Class benefited from his strong faith and commitment. James had a private law practice for over 50 years, and he was a long time Rotarian as well as Past-President of his club.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 69 years, Marylene Hill Weir; his son Greg Weir and wife Betty (Rex and Samantha); daughter Elaine Lawson and husband Ira (Landon and girlfriend, Alex, Stuart and wife Jessica and great granddaughter Lilly Grace, and Kristen Rhodes and husband Marshall); deceased son Rickey Weir (Blake, Hannah and fiancé Mitchell Cash); sister Trish Bean; and brother Charles Weir and wife Pernell; and numerous relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his parents, Thurman and Mattie and brothers, Ray and Joe.
A visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at First United Methodist Church of Pearland, 2314 N. Grand Blvd., Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at noon and the service will follow at 1:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Keith Whitaker officiating.
A special thanks to the staff and Pals of Belmont Assisted Living Hunters Creek and to James’ dear coffee friend, Gene Albee.
