I remember working with Don when he came to Kennedy Space Center, FL. Very sharp man, great asset for NASA.

Glad to know he spent his life also with God's most valuable "program" in the Bible, and that I'll see Him in Heaven.

Dr. Don was a professional collegue and great friend of mine for many, many years. I recall there was one ten year period where we spoke on the phone probably 3 to 4 times every week. Most of that had to do with the fact we spoke the same esotetic language of thermal protection systems, but a major part was also that Don was such a warm, open, interested and unique human being. In between thoughts on "kinetics" and the like, I can remember listening to Don about how much he enjoyed his travels with Nancy and all the great planning she put into those trips; I can remember his deep pain for the families affected by the loss of Columbia; and certainly I remember the affection he often expressed for his children and grandchildren. As I think back, one of the things I'll miss the most is just Don's great company and sage technical advice during all the lunches we did together at local restaurants whenever I traveled to JSC. During his last days I'm sure he fully realized how much he was appreciated by all those who worked with him and knew him. Farewell to a good friend.

Don has been a mentor to multiple generation of NASA people, including me, starting with the Apollo generation. I came to know Don as part of the engineers that got involved with the Space Shuttle Orbiter design, testing and development and when I needed someone to guide us with Orion heat-shield development, of course Don was there to help us charter the early stages of development.
He is one of the greatest of the giants I have had the fortune of working with him and I will miss him.
Peace and Grace is what I will always keep in mind whenever I think about Don.

My sincere condolences on your loss. Although I only worked with Don a short time, I was honored to meet one of the NASA pioneers, and glad to know a fellow Sooner here at JSC. God bless you and Don.

Dear Donna & Family:
Your sweet Dad, such a Godly man, will truly be missed, as we all deeply grieve with you. His smile lit up the room, and he always made me feel so welcomed, and shared the lovely beach house with us. As Believers, we know we will be reunited with him someday soon, as we share the gift of eternal life.
You're in our thoughts & prayers at this sad time.
Love in Christ,
Valerie VP Pugh

Don was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He truly loved the Lord, and loved people. He loved to tease and tell tall tales, never mentioning his long years with NASA, or the fact that he was Dr. Curry, not just Don. It was a pleasure and an honor knowing him and being able to call this special man my friend. He will be missed, but fondly remembered.

Don was my hero. Even when I was a co-op student in the mid-1980's Don was always smiling and supportive, generous with his time and always entertaining to be around. A true gentlemen and pioneer in Spacecraft Thermal Protection Systems, I respected him as one of my mentors. I send my condolences to his family and friends. I will miss him very, very much.

Nancy and family, it was our privilege to know Don! He touched our lives in such a positive way as well as we know he did many others. We loved him and his sense of humor! It was so wonderful to enjoy the years together in Chuck's class and the different functions through the years.
We will truly miss him and look forward to seeing him again one day,

Too many of our wonderful NASA colleagues like our good friend, Don Curry who accomplished so much during the 1960s and 1970’s are now beginning to pass and are no longer on this earth with us. We continue to love and miss all of them.
"The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time we own. Live, love, learn, enjoy to the utmost the wonderful hours each of us has left. Place no faith in time ... for our clock of life may soon be still."

I've known Don and his wife Nancy for half a century now, and have never seen him any other way than pleasant, and of the highest calibre of gentleman I've ever met. I loved him like an uncle I never had. And his wife Nancy could have easily been another mother for me. I hope I live long enough to be even half the man that I imagine he was. And I'm not talking about his technical achievements. I'm referring to the eternal attributes he displayed. I really believe that God is so proud of him, and he will be comforted in a heavenly home until the rest of his family joins him. God bless this special family in my life, and know that I was a huge fan of Don Curry.
