Obituary of John M. Witt

John M. Witt, a resident of Pearland and formerly of Sweeny, Texas, went to be with his Lord on March 20, 2005 at the age of 97 years. He was born on November 10, 1907 in Wise County, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Jackson Witt after 64 years of marriage. He had retired in 1971 from Phillips 66 after 37 years of employment. He was an elder for many years at the Sweeny Church of Christ and continued his devotion to his God and Savior until his death. He is survived by his sons, John Dean Witt and wife, Charlsie, of Conroe and Billy Witt, of Kansas City, Missouri; his daughter, Linda Shaw and husband, Billy, of Pearland with whom he had resided since 1997. Grandchildren are Brenda Hudson and husband, Eddie, Paula Brooks and husband, Brian, Debra Kuepker and husband, Jim, Randy Witt and wife, Pam, Renee Pulse and husband, Steve, Tamara Irish and husband, James, Vanessa Garrison and husband, Keith, and Lezley Pacheco and husband, Jerry; and 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services and interment were held on Friday, March 25, 2005, at 11:00 AM, at the Sweeny Cemetery, in Sweeny, Texas. The family received friends following the services.
