Obituary of Carolyn Hanson Baker

Carolyn Hanson Baker, 65, passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Lennie Hanson. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 14 years, Forbes Baker; daughters, Leslie Lanagan, Lindsay Lanagan and husband, Matt, Lisa Newberry and husband, Carlton, Linda Whitson and husband Clay; brothers, Bill Hanson and wife, Billie Sue, John Hanson and wife, Suzanne; sister, Nancy Pilgrim and husband, Russ; her beloved uncle, Raymond Williams and wife, Elaine; nine grandchildren; and numerous other family and dear friends.
Carolyn was an amazing and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a dedicated elementary school music teacher and choir director that felt it was always important to instill a love of music to her students from a young age. Carolyn was an accomplished and talented pianist. She was an avid reader and loyal supporter of the local libraries. Carolyn enjoyed traveling by cruise ship to see the world and her favorite roadtrip across the country was on Route 66 with Forbes. She was a proud and caring grandmother that cherished spending time with her family. Carolyn will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Carolyn’s honor to the Texas Music Educators Association Scholarship Fund at https://www.tmea.org/programs/scholarships/donors or by mail at TMEA Scholarship Fund, PO Box 140465, Austin, TX 78714 with a note in the memo section to Carolyn Baker’s name.
A visitation for Carolyn will be held Friday, October 7, 2016 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Sugar Land, 502 Eldridge Rd., Sugar Land, Texas 77478 with Rev. Dr. Fred Seay officiating.
