Obituary of Robert Michael Moore

R. Michael Moore, 62, of Houston, Texas, passed away on November 17, 2016. Mike was born on October 29, 1954, in Decatur, Illinois, son of Helen and Robert Moore. He grew up in Decatur where he was very involved in sports and Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, and graduated from Stephen Decatur High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School. Excelling in basketball, Mike played throughout high school and was recruited to Vanderbilt University on a full scholarship where he played throughout his undergraduate years. He moved to Houston after law school to practice law with the firm of Fulbright & Jaworski LLP where he remained for over 20 years. He was a partner certified in employment and labor law at F&J until leaving to continue that practice in his own firm. Mike was a loving father and loyal friend. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lindsey and Whitney Moore, his sister, Jane Moore Freyfogle, brother-in-law Eric Freyfogle, his nephew and niece, Luke and Anna Freyfogle, and many friends and extended family members. A memorial graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Mound Cemetery in Cowden, Illinois. A gathering of family and friends will follow in Effingham, Illinois. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests that contributions, in Mike’s memory, be directed to The Post Oak School, 4600 Bissonnet, Bellaire, TX 77401, with designation to the Scholarship Fund.
