I never knew you in life although I would have cherished the memory of knowing you. Your combination of Zen and Catholicism is also quite impressive. That has been an ongoing argument between myself and a few of my Christian brothers. I pray for your family for peace and comfort, I just can't imagine their pain. So, brother, until we are all reunited at the foot of Jesus in the presence of our Father, peace. Most of all, thank you, dear Mack, for all you have given to this world which is a better place for having had you here for a short time.

Mrs. Machowicz and family,
I was saddened to hear of the passing of "Mack" and my continued prayers and thought are with you. "Unleash the Warrior Within" was my introduction to Richard Machowicz and from that point on he became someone to whom I looked to as an example of how to live life. Through his book and later the NDCQ community, he became a mentor. To this day I carry the NDCQ Challenge Coin that I won from a contest on the NDCQ Facebook page many years ago. The coin is always in my pocket and serves as a proper kick in the butt when I'm feeling defeated. That coin has always been special to me and when I heard he was battling cancer I would look at the coin and think about Mack hitting the targets and moving forward in his fight.
Mack is an inspiration to many and I'm sure you will hear from people from all over who have been touched by his life and I hope it brings you at least a bit of comfort. Thank you for sharing him with us and God bless you.

Mandy, my sincerest condolences of hearing of the news. As so many of your friends and family had posted, He leaves behind a legacy of a beautiful family which was his best of his accomplishments as a committed and loving husband and father. His life works and accomplishments are a testament to his enjoyment of life and reaching his potential and I know you and the girls helped drive that determination during his battle with cancer. In the few conversations I had with Mack he was always direct but always wanted the best out of all people and I am positive he left you with words of inspiration and hope. Believe in those words he had for you and you will overcome! NDCQ.
I trust God continues to restore your faith and love over you and the girls. and I pray for continued love and support in your time of grief.

I first learned of Richard while browsing in a Barnes and Noble in Minneapolis, MN. His book Unleash the Warrior Within in many ways inspired and positively influenced the course of my life for years to follow.
Years later I met and trained with Mack in person and am honored and blessed to consider him a teacher and a friend.
Mack was generous, compassionate, and kind.
Mack had a faith...I can remember him quoting Jesus on the cross in training ("Father forgive them for they know not what they do.") like it was yesterday.
I have every confidence that he is in a better place and I look forward to meeting my teacher and friend again some day.
May God bless Mandy, his daughters, and the rest of his family at this time.

I had the great honor of meeting Mack in 2012 for Houston's IAH Wounded Warrior Weekend. What an incredible patriot and devoted warrior to this nation. Truly a gentleman and a mentor to so many. He was our Guest of Honor in 2013 for Houston's 911 Heroes Run and he gave such an inspirational speech to thousands on the meaning of 9/11. I'm truly saddened by his passing and I don't know why our Lord takes the best from this earth so soon, but please know that we will always remember the greatness of Mack and what he represented in the world. I have more than one of Mack's quotes on stickies in my office. One of my favorites is "Figure out what you love and set your sights on making it work". I am sure Mack faced this awful disease with the same undeniable courage and integrity he demonstrated while serving our country and in sharing his knowledge and experience with others. I've lost a loved one to multiform glioblastoma brain cancer. I know some of what that journey entails. I'm sorry for anyone who has experienced it. I'm sure he spared you what he could and regretted what was beyond his control. Mack is an American hero who was blessed to have a strong and loving family by his side every step of the way. I pray he rests in peace and that God grants Mandy and the girls, his parents and all his family and friends, the peace and comfort that is promised to those who mourn. I hope we all can follow Mack's lead and "figure out what we love and set our sights on making it work". In that way, one of his many legacies will live on and this world will be left a better place. NDCQ.

Dear Mandy,
Mack is a loved man among every branch of service and it would be hard to see how much, but nearly every one in the military has heard of or have been touched by him. Please accept our deepest heartfelt condolences. I remember you from our high school years and you always have a family in the military to call upon if you ever need.
A treasured Air Force poem, High Flight:
"Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God."
It's more than an Air Force poem--to us, it helps describe one's great effects on others and their accomplishments.
Sincerely,
Tilly Blake

My deepest condolences to Mandy, and his girls, I am so sorry for your loss. Hearing this news was shocking, and heartbreaking, as I had not known that he was ill. Richard was a very big influence on me in my life personally, and his teachings helped me overcome many personal fears. After taking his Bukido Intensive years ago, I learned great lessons of his teachings, "Not Dead, Can't Quit", or "See your Target, Destroy your Target". After a series of layoff's, I found myself without a home, job, and a penny to my name. When I thought I had nothing left, it was at that moment, Richards voice and tools kicked in, and I took his methods and started hitting those targets, all the way back to the top, and I owe him everything for that gift. Now, I teach my son those tools in tackling tough things in school, as he grows into a man. Richard, thank you for those gifts that you brought to this life, many people heard you, and live by your advice. Thank you for your service to this country, Thank you for having the courage to put your heart and soul out to the universe so that we can be touched by your amazing gifts. Your spirit will live in me for the rest of my life. Rest in Peace brother, I love you.....
