Obituary of Curtis L Neal

Curtis L. Neal, 91, passed away Monday, May 29, 2017.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mollie Neal.  Curtis is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Ernestine Neal; daughters, Patricia Rundell and husband Dennis, Vickie Neal, Connie Watson, Rhonda Bridgewater and husband Scott, Vanessa Johnson and husband Ray; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Curtis was born February 18, 1926 and was a member of The Greatest Generation.  He grew up during the depression, went to war, returned home and helped to rebuild this nation.  As a young man, he went to work and helped to support his family until he was called into the military.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  Curtis and Ernestine were married on June 5, 1949 and were married for almost 68 years.  He and Ernestine especially enjoyed square dancing.  Curtis worked for the VA Cemetery and Hospital and was a wonderful provider for his family.  He was very frugal and could stretch a dollar.  Curtis was affectionately known as “Paw Paw”.  Curtis took great pride in helping raise many of his grandkids.  He loved to cook and enjoyed spending quality time with and teaching many of his grandkids how to cook as well as how to work on cars.  Curtis was a devoted son who took care of his mother until she passed away.  He will forever be remembered for the huge impact on many lives and the great example he was to all his family. Curtis will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Curtis will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581.  The visitation will be held Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  The Funeral Service will take place Friday, June 2, 1017 at 11:00 am with Reverend Clifford Neal officiating.  Curtis will be interred at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
