Obituary of Susie Helen Adams
Susie Helen Adams, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Lawson; loving husband of 61 years, Edward “Ed” Adams; brother, Alvin Dean Lawson; sister, Alma Lawson Long; and granddaughter, Kelli Flanagan. Helen is survived by her son, Stacy Adams and wife, Michele; daughters, Judy Flanagan and Janet Adams; grandchildren, Kacey Glasscock and husband, Brett, and Hannah Adams; great grandchild, Garrett Kelly Glasscock and a host of other family and dear friends.
In 1955, Helen was set up on a date with a young Air Force pilot named Edward Adams. Three months later, they were married and set off to South Dakota, where Ed was stationed. In 1963, Helen and Ed moved to Pearland, TX, where they resided for 54 years and were faithful members of First Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. In earlier years, she took interest in the Pearland Garden Club and loved square dancing. She was a substitute school teacher in Pearland ISD for a couple of years, and in 1974, Helen and her husband, Ed, started ADCO Systems, an industrial heating equipment company, which they owned for more than 25 years. After retirement Helen and Ed enjoyed traveling. She was an avid reader and found pleasure in watching the news and keeping up with the weather. Family was of a great importance to her whether it was with her young daughters’ activities in Girl Scouts or her son’s Houston Chronicle paper route. Helen was passionate in caring for her family, especially for her husband in his later years. She was affectionately known as “MeMaw” to her grandchildren and she cherished every opportunity she had to spend time with them. Helen will forever be remembered for her happy demeanor, her strong belief that the cup was always half full and her love of giving hugs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Pall Bearers are Rusty Bachtel, Jack Brinkman, Phil Cessac, Brett Glasscock, Steve Northcutt and Andy Rathbun.
