Obituary of Raymond Gerald Vaughan
Raymond Gerald Vaughan, 85, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Vira Vaughan; son, Wesley Franklin Vaughan; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Melinder; and sister Mildred Sherman. Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Emma Vaughan; son, Raymond Vaughan Jr. and wife, Dawn; son-in-law, Robbie Melinder and wife, Mary; brothers, Austin Vaughan and wife, Jonell, Monroe Vaughan and wife, Joyce, and Clovis Vaughan and wife, Judy; sister, Geneva Boland and husband, Don; and brother-in-law, Charles Sherman; grandchildren Katie, Laura and Shelby; and a host of other family and dear friends.
Raymond was a loving and gentle man who was loved by all. He was cared for until his death by his devoted and loving wife of 67 years who never left his side. Raymond proudly served his country stateside during the Korean war. He attended night school for 9 years while working full time to obtain his masters in math and engineering. Raymond worked for Fluor, Bechtel, and Phillips as a civil engineer. During his employment, he traveled to many countries including China where he visited and photographed “The Great Wall of China”. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling and spent many hours in his wood working shop. He created many collectible items for his family and friends. He designed beautiful landscape for his home of 35 years on Cullen Blvd. Raymond spent years researching, recording and sharing family genealogy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Research or the American Heart Association/Houston Division in memory of Raymond G. Vaughan and daughter, Elizabeth A. Vaughan.
Services for Raymond will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will take place Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will take place Friday, June 30, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Forest Park East in Webster, Texas.
