Obituary of Jerry Allan Killen
Jerry Allan Killen, 72 passed away Wednesday October 5, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents William Byrd Killen and Katie Killen; brothers Alfred, Johnny, William (Cowboy), Freddy and Danny Killen; sisters Vera Thornton, Bobby Freeman and Shirley Killen. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Helen (Simecek) Killen; sons Jerry Killen and wife Rhonda, Ronnie Killen and girlfriend Kellie Louis, former daughter in law Dee Dee Killen, grandchildren Blaine, Madisyn and Cameron Killen, Austin (Katy) and Alexus Piske, and a host of other family and friends.
Jerry graduated from Gonzales High School in 1964 where he was a football star. He was an excellent provider for his family and had a successful career with Bakers Hughes that lasted more than 40 years. Jerry was an amazing cook; he loved cooking BBQ for friends and family. He loved competing in BBQ cook-offs in Gonzales and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He cherished getting away to his property in Gonzales where he relaxed, rode his tractor, repaired car engines and worked his ranch. Jerry enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and watching a great game of football. He truly loved coaching Little League Football and spending time with his grandchildren. Jerry was strong in his faith and was active in his Bible Study and prayer groups. He will forever be remembered for his love of family and the many traditions and words of wisdom he passed on to them. Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Jerry's honor to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
A visitation for Jerry will be held Monday October 9, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, TX 77581. Funeral services will be held Tuesday October 10, 2017 at 12:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 426 St. Paul St, Gonzales, TX 78629. Interment will take place at Denton Creek Cemetery in Gonzales, TX.
