Oh my goodness. I've been studying for my Real Estate Sales license exam and get some advice/pointers from him so I decided to look up Richard since he sold my house in 2006. He was president of the Silverlake HOA and a respected and amicable person of the community.
RIP Mr. Skotak. You were a special man.

Richard Skotak was a wonderful man – funny, warm, outgoing, intelligent and a good friend. It was evident for all to see how much he loved and adored Sylvia. My wife Jayna and I always enjoyed seeing them together and laughing with them! He was a great storyteller – you could always count on Richard to have a great story that was funny and insightful. He knew people wherever he went.
It was an honor to serve alongside Richard in the Brazoria County Municipal Utility District #6. I saw him in those meetings as we all did: a positive force for our community, doing all he could to move the Silverlake area forward to the great place to live it is today. I first met Richard through Sylvia on the homeowners’ association, and they both helped us feel welcomed into the community.
Richard held a wealth of information about the history of Silverlake and Brazoria County, testament to his devotion to our area. He was a key supporter of the Clarence Sasser Park from the beginning, and he continued to monitor the Park and suggest improvements to it up to and during this last month’s Board meeting. His legacy will continue through the countless good works and efforts he made to make our area a safe and welcoming place to live.

I met Richard several years ago working in various HOA capacities and later as a Brazoria County MUD #6 director. He was very passionate about making Silverlake a great place to own property and a wonderful place to raise a family. He will definitely be missed.

Our deepest condolences to Sylvia and family for their loss. We will remember Richard fondly and miss him greatly. We are indebted to Richard for mentoring Karl during his very brief stint as realtor, and for Richard being our realtor when we were buying a home for my mother. There's probably more but I can't remember. I still laugh when I remember Richard plucking a kumquat (or maybe loquat) off a tree behind a house we were touring, and taking a bite of it just like that. I remember that Richard helped with so many Silverlake HOA events, and Sylvia was usually by his side. We will miss seeing him at this year's Breakfast with Santa.

My condolences to Richard’s family and friends. I served with Richard on the Brazoria County MUD #6 board for the last several years. He cared very much for his community in ways most never got to see, volunteering countless hours to ensure things were done for the betterment of others and his community. It was an honor to serve with him and I’m very sorry to hear he’s gone. I will miss him.

Chris, Kim, Pam and Sylvia. What a beautiful obituary you wrote. My heart truly hurts for you all and your children, especially having to do this years before you were ready for Richard to leave this earth. I Am at a loss for words and I am just so very sorry. I will never forget your Dad’s jolly face and soul. I hope you see small remembrances of him everywhere and know he is smiling down on each of you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ricky. It's been many years since I have seen him but I do remember some of our childhood at Aunt Dot's and Uncle Chester's house in Dallas when we would have family bbqs and playing outdoors with my brother, Tom and RuthAnne. We usually played on things Uncle Chester built for the back yard. Played hide and seek until after dark back in those days
Please accept my sympathy for your loss.
