Obituary of Larry Dee Burnley

Larry Dee Burnley, 75, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017.  He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde Odis Burnley; first wife, Joan Burnley, and brother, John Burnley.  Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Cecilia Burnley; son, Jerry Burnley; daughters, Kim Svatek and husband, Randy, Laura Cooper and husband, Tim; brother, Carl Burnley and Dorothy; sister, Alice Burnley; grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Suzann, Lindsey, Larry, Virginia, Joan, Kayla; great grandchildren, Wesley, Gabriel and Nielia; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Larry was a proud veteran that served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was an excellent provider for his family and Co-Owned B & S Repair and Supply that maintained and serviced the brakes on trains.  Larry loved trains and truly enjoyed the work he did.  He was a devoted family man and felt strongly about teaching his children the importance of giving back to the community.  Larry served as a Volunteer Fireman in Pearland and dressed as Santa Claus for Windsong Nursing home for many years.  It was his role as “Santa” that he enjoyed the most and was affectionately known as that by family and friends.  He enjoyed the outdoors and cherished every opportunity he had to camp and fish at his favorite spot in Missouri at Table Rock Lake. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s honor to the American Heart Association, the Toys for Tots Program or St. Jude Hospital.

Services for Larry will be held Monday, December 11, 2017 at Butler’s Courtyard, 122 N. Michigan Ave., League City, TX 77573.  The visitation will begin at 3:00 pm and the Celebration of Life will follow at 4:00 pm with Tim Holder officiating.
