Obituary of Dr. Glenn Alan Garrison
Glenn Alan Garrison DDS of Sweeny, Texas was born on January 4th, 1962 in Port Arthur, Texas and died of cancer on December 15th, 2017. Glenn graduated from Pearland High School and received a BS in Biology from the University of Houston. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Texas Dental School in Houston and founded Westside Dental Center in Pearland, Texas in 1990.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Garrison. He is survived by his mother Billie Sue Garrison, his brother John M. Garrison, and by his four boys: Michael Nathan Venable, Sean Tyler Venable, Richard Ian Garrison, and Eric Mohit Garrison.
A life-long learner as well as an educator, Glenn was a Fellow of the American General Dentistry Society, member of the Seattle Dental Study Club, and a member of the Longhorn Dental Study Club. He served as School Board President of Pearland ISD and later as School Board President of Sweeny ISD. He was the 2011 Texas Association for the Gifted and Talented Regional Advocate of the Year.
He cared so much about our youth and their future. In addition to his tireless advocacy for education, he was a member of the Brazoria County Groundwater Conservation District, which works to maintain the quality and availability of Brazoria County’s groundwater resources for future generations. And he was a volunteer and donor to the Boy Scouts of America as well as the local school band and other causes.
He was a beloved Sunday School teacher, devoted son, loving father, caring brother, and an amazing friend and inspiration to so many. His many other interests included Longhorn Football, hunting, traveling, military history, and political musings. He will be sorely missed.
There will be a celebration of his life on Thursday night, December 21st, at the Family Life Center of the Epiphany Lutheran Church at 5515 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77581. This is right behind his practice at Westside Dental Center.
