Raymond Clifford Hearon, Jr., loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, passed away peacefully in Pearland, TX, on December 11, 2009 at age 68. He was born May 3, 1941 to Raymond Clifford Hearon and Margaret O’Neal Hearon in Hattiesburg, MS. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Ernest C. Hearon. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary Ann Hearon; his son Gregory E. Hearon and wife Bridget; his son Matthew J.Hearon and wife Laura; his granddaughters Riley Ann Hearon and Avery Lea Hearon. Ray was a graduate of Mississippi State University with an MS in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career with The Boeing Company at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. In 1968, the family moved to Salisbury, NC, where Ray began his employment with Celanese Chemical Company. He retired from Celanese with over 30 years of service in Plant Engineering at the Bayport facility. He was an active member of the Houston Business Roundtable and served on committees and subcommittees focusing on owner/contractor health and safety issues at the workplace. Ray was an active member of Seabrook United Methodist Church and served as a member of the Board of Trustees. He also served on the Advisory Committee for the United Way-Bay Area Service Center and could be found volunteering at the local Interfaith Caring Ministries food pantry. A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 14, 2009, at 1:00 PM, at the Seabrook United Methodist Church, 3300 Lakeside Drive, Seabrook, TX. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Interment will be at Roseland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg, MS.
