Obituary of Gene Chris Jacobsen

Gene Chris Jacobsen went home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2018, after fighting a courageous battle against stage 4 bladder cancer. Born on August 28, 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama, Chris was a 1976 graduate of Westbury High School in Houston, Texas. Possessing an encyclopedic knowledge of sports and sports trivia, he was a lifelong supporter of Houston Astros baseball, Texans football, and Rockets basketball. On September 21, 1985, Chris married the love of his life, Cherll. His pride and joy were his daughter, Julie, and his son, Jeffery. Chris held a variety of interesting jobs throughout his long working career, most recently working as a manager at Bucees, a job he loved. Chris was a devoted Christian and a true family man. His greatest pleasure came from spending time with loved ones. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gene R. and Betty Gene Jacobsen, his father-in-law, Donald Saenger, and his brother-in-law, Scott Saenger. He is survived by his wife, Cherll, mother-in-law, Judy Saenger, daughter, Julie Krueger and husband, Steven, son, Jeffery, sister, Susan Jacobsen “Jake” Perret and husband, Ronnie, sister-in-law, Cathy Swanstron and husband, Miles, sister-in-law, Gina Holler and husband, Ryan, nieces, Lindsay McPherson and husband, Geoff, Elizabeth Taylor and husband, Clint, Valerie Smith, and Brynna Holler, nephews, Cody Lurie-Perret and husband, David, Jack Mossbarger, Connor Holler and Caleb Holler, and great nieces and nephews, Eli McPherson, Addie McPherson, Olivia Taylor, and Sebastian Mahi. He is also survived by numerous other friends and loved ones.

A Celebration of Chris’ life will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Houston on Saturday, July 14 at 1:00 pm.
