Obituary of Richard Lane Baker

Richard Lane Baker, 59, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018.  He is preceded in death by his father, David Richard Baker; brother, Randy Baker; brother-in-law, Bill Shireman.  Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Barbara Baker; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ann and John Fox; wife, Jennifer Baker; son, Chad Baker; daughter, Tiffany Levesque and husband, Shawn; step-daughter, Annlyn Sophia Chiles; sisters, Trudy Perriraz and husband, Benny, Tracy Shireman; sister-in-law, Susan Baker; grandson, Logan Edward Levesque; and a host of other family and dear friends.

Rick started his teaching and coaching career with Clear Creek ISD in 1981.  He left for a short time to work for Deer Park ISD but returned and spent most of his career with Clear Creek.  He had a passion for sports but especially loved basketball. His greatest days on the court were spent representing the Carroll High Tigers and Southwest Texas State Bobcats. He took great pride in watching his grandson Logan play also as the two shared a mutual love for the game. He enjoyed going on vacations and trips with his friends.  Jennifer and Rick had been devoted to each other for 13 ½ years. All who knew them saw that they shared a truly special relationship and loved and adored each other. Rick dedicated his life to helping his family and shared his time unselfishly with Jennifer, Tiffany and her family, and Chad.  He especially enjoyed taking Chad for rides in his truck; rain or shine, cold or hot with the windows rolled down.  These times helped make sure that Chad had good days and laughed.  Rick loved the beach; it didn’t matter what beach, just as long as he could spend time there with family and friends.  Family, beach, basketball and music were his life!  He was a simple man that loved queso for dinner and the littlest things brought him the greatest joy.  Rick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Rick to the family for his son Chad’s care. An account has been set up at Chase Bank under Tiffany Levesque and Jennifer Baker. Donations can be taken in person to any Chase Bank Branch. A Memorial Service for Rick will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581 with Deacon Andy DeYoung officiating.
