Obituary of Lisa Me-Ling Shivers
Lisa Me-Ling Shivers was born December 2, 1970 in Gary, Indiana to Richard and Patricia Shivers. Strong family values instilled in Lisa at an early age shaped her into the beautiful, strong loving giving and independent woman Lisa blossomed into.
After graduating from her beloved Roosevelt High School class in 1989 Lisa entered business school completing her associates degree in business management working as an administrative assistant. Lisa loved spending time with family and friends and had a unique way of incorporating her friends into family. Everyone was special to Lisa and she displayed her love and affection by her strong presence on social media.
Lisa's zest for life included eating, travel, hanging out with family and friends, talking..., posting on social media and spending time with the love of her life Jeffery Smith.
Jeff and Lisa were best friends who brought laughter to the room, complemented one another and shared a love and engagement that lasted for years.
Lisa's diagnosis never stopped her from encouraging other patients diagnosed with cancer. She created "The Lisa Project" an organization to help other cancer patients. Lisa created and distributed gift bags containing personal care items while going through chemotherapy. Even during her own clinic appointments and treatments Lisa was determined to make sure she personally delivered gift bags to patients. Her purpose was to inspire others and put a smile on their faces while battling cancer.
Lisa's health started declining and was unable to do what she loved most, posting on social media and distributing her care bags. God called Lisa home transitioning peacefully surrounded by her family and holding the hand of Jeff. Lisa fought a good fight, kept her faith completed her job here on earth and God called her home.
Lisa is preceded in death by her father Richard L. Shivers Sr.
Lisa leaves to cherish in her memory her mother Patricia Shivers, brothers Tracy & Bettina Shivers, Richard Jr. & Rachael Shivers and Craig & Brandie Fields, sisters Carla Payne and brother-in-law Gregory Payne and Toya Shivers and her beloved fiancé Jeffery Smith. A host of relatives, friends and social media crew that will miss her.
