Obituary of Henrietta Harris
Henrietta Harris went home to the Lord at age 69 on Saturday, August 18, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Geneva Harris; brothers, Charles Harris, Curtis Harris and Edward Smith; and sisters, Bernice Johnson and Ella Watson. Left to cherish her memory is her loving companion of over 40 years, Andrew Allen; sons, Joseph Harris and wife, Erica, Jacob Harris, Ronald Harris and wife, Nennan; brother, Joe B. Smith and wife, Deborah; eight grandchildren and a host of other family and dear friends.
Henrietta was always willing to help others who had fallen on hard times. She was beloved by many for her no nonsense straight-forward appeal. Rhett D, as she was lovingly called by her family, was an independent and strong willed woman. She loved fashion, dancing and of course, there was her passion for her Houston sports teams. She possessed the skill of remembering every single family member’s birthday, including extended family. Henrietta was a preacher’s child and strong in her faith. She attended Bethel Baptist Church. She was never too proud to call a family member or friend for prayer when her spirit felt empty. She loved to cook, take care of her family, and enjoyed being a homemaker. As a single parent, she raised her three sons to be independent men. She enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren and found a rebirth every time one of them laughed. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services for Henrietta will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581. The visitation will begin at 1:30 pm and the funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
