Marian McCorquodale Capen August 27, 1928 - August 05, 2009 Marian (McCorquodale) Capen, beloved wife and mother, left this world to be with our Lord in heaven at 1pm on August 5, 2009. Marian was born on August 27, 1928, to Ezra and Fannie Shelton in Houston, Texas. She married John T. C. “Corky” McCorquodale in 1948 and they settled in La Porte, Texas to raise their family. Marion was a member First United Methodist Church of La Porte where she was a devoted member of the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. Corky passed away in 1978. After working many years for the Tax Office at La Porte ISD, Marian met and married Robinson “Bob” Capen on March 4, 1995. Not a sweeter couple could be found and they celebrated every minute that they had together. Their devotion to their family, to their church and to their Lord is a shining example for everyone they know. Marian leaves behind a large and loving family. Her husband Bob Capen, sister and brother-in-law Dede and Jack Wright, and sister-in-law Jane Fisher. Her sons David, Donald, and John McCorquodale and their wives Denice, Lisa and Elizabeth, daughter Susan and husband Walton Parker. There are three “step-children” that she loved like her own: daughter Stevie and husband Larry Logsdon, sons Clif Capen and Don White, and Paul Capen. Nephew Philip Wright, niece Mollie and her husband Mike Ellerkamp. Grandchildren, David and William McCorquodale, Kaley and Zachary McCorquodale, Benjamin Slocomb, Tracy and husband Darren Benedict, Michael and wife Micki Logsdon, Kenith and wife Kathy Capen, Christie Capen, and Francis and husband Brandon Hulette. Ten great-grandchildren: Matthew, Ashley, Sarah, Morrigan, Taindee, Christopher, Layna, Kenderick, Jayce, and Alexis. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9, from 4 to 6pm at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10 at 10am at First United Methodist Church of la Porte with a graveside service following at Grandview Memorial Cemetery on Spencer Hwy in La Porte. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of La Porte, 9601 Fairmont Pkwy, La Porte, TX 77571.
