Memorial Service Saturday, Mar 03, 2018 1:00 PM Lucian Joe Montyville Choate March 11, 1931 - February 20, 2018 Lucian (Joe) Montyville Choate, 86. Passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at his home in LaPorte, Texas. Lucian was born March 11, 1931 in Plano, TX. He was the son of Edgar and Grace (Herron) Choate. He graduated from Waco High School in 1948. Lucian married Jimmie Dancer in 1953 and they celebrated 56 years of marriage before her passing. Lucian served in the Korean War and attained the rank of Sargent First Class in the Infantry Division, from October 1948 until his discharge in May 1952. He was awarded the Metal of 5 Bronze Stars at Fort Hood in June 1952. Lucian worked for Tenneco Oil Company in Eagle Lake, LaPorte, and at the Main office in Houston as an Administrative Assistant to the VP of Manufacturing. He retired after 30 years in 1986.Lucian was an avid bowler and loved landscaping and gardening. He was a great father to his two sons Rick and Randy. He spent years supporting Randy with Motor Cross Racing .He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Jimmie, son Rick, and sisters Vernell (Ray) Malina, and Lee Wanda (Charlie) Harrell. Lucian is survived by his longtime devoted companion and caregiver Elaine Rivas, his son Randy and wife Linda, Brother Franklin (Molly), grandchildren, Cory and (Maura), Casey and (Angie), Cortney and Carly Choate. One great grandchild, Jackson and other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at: Paul U Lee Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd St., LaPorte, Texas on March 3, 2018 at 1 pm. The family wishes to thank St. John Hospital and Kindred Hospital, and Hospice for their special care.
