Effie Coker October 18, 1915 - April 14, 2012 Effie Coker, age 96, of LaPorte, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012. She was blessed with a long life which she spent loving and dedicating herself to her family, friends and most especially her Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now enjoying a long-awaited reunion with a long list of loved ones, having outlived her parents, five brothers and sisters, husband, son, son-in-law and two grandchildren. She was a long-time and faithful member of the Pentecostals of Pasadena, until spending the last eight years residing at Parson’s House assisted living center in La Porte. Effie is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Coker; her son, Don Coker; her son-in-law, Wayne Gamble; and twin grandsons, Todd and Trent Gamble. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Bays and husband Ken of Shoreacres; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Coker of Ohio; grandchildren, Tammy Dowdy and husband Kent of League City, Tim Gamble and wife Stacy of La Porte, Taryn Netek and husband Jason of Deer Park, Kyle Gamble and wife Ashley of Humble, and Tiffany Neal and husband Jonathan of Deer Park; great-grandchildren, Emily Dowdy, Chloe Gamble, Natalie Gamble, Trey Hazel, Greyson Netek, Zane Netek, Owen Netek, Colton Neal and Cooper Neal; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Monday, April 16 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 17 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home with interment following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
