Obituary of James Counts

Memorial Service Wednesday, Jun 28, 2017 11:30 AM James Counts February 20, 1928 - June 26, 2017 James “Jim” C. Counts, 89, of La Porte, Tx. departed this life on June 26th 2017 at his home. Jim was born in La Porte, TX to parents George H. Counts Sr. and Florence Counts on February 20, 1928. He was a proud graduate of The University of Texas in ’51. In addition to his lifelong career at the Du Pont La Porte Plant, he also established Bayshore Engineering, a surveying company His other passions included; the Boy Scouts of America, Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House and many more. He was also a devoted elder to La Porte Community Church. Jim was survived by wife, of 68 years, Flo Ann Counts and children Ann McNeill and husband David and son Jeff Counts, wife Ruby. Grandchildren by age: Richard Counts, Daniel McNeill, Patrick McNeill, Christy McNeill and Josh Counts. Great grandchildren by age: Kaster, Jared, Siena, Alexis, Jayce, Kylie and Courtney. He is preceded in death by his Parents, daughter Becky and brother George H. Counts Jr. Visitation will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on June 27th, 2017 at Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte. The memorial service will be held at 11:30am on June 28th at La Porte Community Church, lead by Rev. Brian Christen.
