Funeral Service Monday, Nov 13, 2017 11:00 AM Jose Angel Anzaldua August 30, 1931 - November 09, 2017 Jose Angel Anzaldua passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital. He was born August 30, 1931 in Brownsville, Texas where he grew up and received his diploma from Brownsville High School. He is preceded in death by his beloved son David Anzaldua, his parents Niceforo P. and Emilia M. Anzaldua, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Surviving him are his wife of 65 years Lucinda Garza Anzaldua and his children: daughter Sally A. Zimmerman (Allan), Dr. Joe Anzaldua (Julie), Mario Anzaldua, and his niece Cecilia Garza whom he considered his daughter, his grandchildren: Martin Caldera, Saraliza Anzaldua, Justin Caldera, Matthew Anzaldua, Lauren Anzaldua, Andrew M.Anzaldua, David Anzaldua, Sophia Anzaldua, Jillian Anzaldua and two great-granddaughters, Jannelle and Juliet Rose Caldera, his twin sister Minerva A. Arizmendi, Alicia A. Hinojosa and Olaya A. Lopez,and many cousins, nephews and nieces. After high school he joined the Army and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, at which time he received his Honorable Discharge. He was employed by G.D.Searle Pharmaceutical before coming to La Porte to work for Velsicol Chemical Plant. He was a fanatic of the Dallas Cowboys and always enjoyed the La Porte Bulldog Baseball team at their games. After the David Scholarship Fund was created he took great pride in knowing that in some small way the Anzaldua Family was able to help La Porte students continue their college education. He was a very generous man, always ready to help anyone in need. He always met the needs of his family and was a great example to them. His family always came first – especially his beloved grand and great grandchildren. Paul U. Lee Funeral Home in La Porte is in charge of arrangements: Vigil will be held on Sunday, November 12th from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M., Rosary will be recited from 7:00 to 8:00. On Monday, November 13th the body will lie in state at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in La Porte with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. and Mass at 11:00 A.M. The procession will follow immediately after Mass to Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas. Family and friends are cordially invited to a reception at St. Mary’s Church in La Porte after the graveside services.
